Best Replacement Bands for Mi Band 5, Mi Band 6, and Mi Band 7

In this post, I am going to share with you the best replacement bands for Mi Band 5, 6 and 7. A while back the silicon band on my Mi Band 6 broke. So, I set out to find a replacement band.

Over the last few months, I’ve bought a lot of different kinds of replacement bands for my Mi Band 5, Mi Band 6 and Mi Band 7. Let me share with you the best three replacement bands and then a few insights (design, quality, durability) from my experience looking for a replacement band.

Leather Replacement Band

Best Replacement Bands for Mi Band - Leather Replacement Band

My favorite replacement band was the Mijobs leather replacement band for Miband 5 and 6 from Amazon. I also got another cheaper Chinese brand leather band, which was very also made with genuine leather. The leather bands are stylish, comfortable and durable.

The case is made from metal. Then, you have rubber inserts that your wrap around the band before inserting the band into the case that holds the Mi Band. The leather straps are then attached to this case. And that seems to me to be the weak link with the design. From having watches that used the same mechanism to attach straps to the body of the watch, this mechanism does have a high failure rate. But both leather bands have yet to break with a few months of use. So we shall see.

Other than that, I really like how the leather band looks. It makes it look like something very stylish, that you can wear when you dress up. Perfect for office wear – turns your Mi Band into a stylish watch!

Metal Replacement Band

If you are looking for a way to change the look of your Mi Band, you might want to consider the metal replacement bands. They come in different colors and styles, so you can find one that suits your taste. My partner is very happy with the rose gold band, which has a feminine and elegant touch. I prefer the black band, which has a sleek and modern look. Both of them have links that can be removed or added to adjust the size. The metal band comes with the deployant clasp, which consists of two metal plates that fold over each other and lock in place with a push button and a spring mechanism.

But if you don’t like that style, you can also opt for the mesh band, which has a smooth and flexible texture. I think the mesh band is a good option for women who want a metal band that is not too heavy or bulky. And come with a sliding clasp that allows for micro-adjustments.

If you have a large wrist and don’t mind the extra weight, you will enjoy the metal band with links. It is a sturdy and durable replacement band that will last for a long time.

Compared to the leather replacement bands, the metal band felt much heavier on my wrist and made me uncomfortable. It was also hard to adjust the strap to fit my wrist size. I had to remove some links from the band, but it was not easy to do. The result was either a band that was too tight and left marks on my skin, or a band that was too loose and slid around.

Another problem was that the frame of the metal band was too big for my watch. It looked bulky and out of proportion, especially because I have a small wrist.

The Mijobs ones came with rubber straps, which secured the band to the strap securely.  Other brands I got were not as secure.

If you like metal bands and don’t have a small wrist – metal replacement bands are a good option to consider.

Silicon Replacement Band

Many people have complained that the original silicon has a tendency to loosen and fall off their wrist. If that’s the only gripe you have with the OEM silicon band, you might want to consider getting this replacement band instead. It has a different type of closure, called a pin buckle clasp, which is more secure and stable. A pin buckle clasp has a plastic pin that goes through a hole in the strap and a plastic frame that holds it in place. Unlike the original silicon strap, this band will not come undone easily or accidentally. As a sports person, you can wear it with confidence and peace of mind.

If you want to replace the original silicon band with something similar, you may want to consider a pack of 20 silicon replacement bands. They are inexpensive and come in a variety of colors, so you can change them according to your mood or outfit. However, you should be aware that these bands are not very durable or high-quality. They tend to break, tear, or lose their elasticity after a short time of use. Moreover, the bright colored ones are prone to fading or staining, especially if they are exposed to sunlight, sweat, or water.

If you are looking for a rugged silicon band with a secure clasp – this is the best one I could find.

So there you have it, my top 3 recommendations for the best replacement bands for Mi Band 5, 6, and 7. Now, I’d like to share with you some insights on what you should look for when choosing a replacement band for you Mi Band.

Design

Bright colored silicon straps are not a good choice for your Mi Band, because they tend to fade or stain. If you want a bright colored strap, you might want to try the braided nylon elastic replacement strap. However, they have a drawback: they are very difficult to adjust once you put them on. I’m wearing one right now and I have to use my teeth to adjust it! And I don’t like how it makes my Mi Band look bulky.

All metallic straps are not created equal. Some of them have a shiny chrome finish that can look cheap and flashy. They can also attract fingerprints and smudges, which can ruin the appearance of your watch. Instead of shiny chrome, you should opt for satin silver, which is a more subtle and elegant finish. Satin silver has a matte texture that resembles unpolished stainless steel. It can match well with any outfit and occasion, and it can also resist scratches and stains better than shiny chrome.

Body and Strap

Most replacement bands that come with a silicon body will fit Mi Band 7, Mi Band 6 and Mi Band 5. It will be a tight fit for Mi Band 7, as this band is a little wider – but they will fit. However, if you replacement band has metal body, you need to make sure that you buy the one that fits your band. I have found the Mi Band 5 and Mi Band 6 are interchangeable, but replacement bands with a metal body for Mi Band 7 will not fit Mi Band 5 or 6. They are simply too wide.

And in general, you should be careful about choosing a metal body that does not have rubber gaskets on the inside. Rubber gaskets are soft rings that cushion the connection between the metal body and the band. Without them, you might have trouble inserting or removing the band from the metal body. You could also damage the band or the metal body by scratching or bending them. Furthermore, you might lose your band if it slips out of the metal body due to a loose fit. Therefore, it is better to avoid metal bodies that do not come with rubber gaskets. In addition, most metal bodies are not compatible with other bands of the same size and shape, so you cannot easily reuse the replacement band if you upgrade your fitness band.

One of the drawbacks of some straps is that they do not have micro-adjustments, which are small increments that allow you to fine-tune the fit of the strap. Without micro-adjustments, you might find that the strap is either too tight or too loose on your wrist, which can affect your comfort and the performance of your mi Band. Your mi Band needs to be snug to your skin and not loose, so that it can accurately measure your heart rate, blood pressure, and other biometrics. That’s why the leather straps are a good choice, because you can easily make additional holes in them without ruining the strap. You can use a leather punch tool or a needle to create new holes that suit your wrist size.

When choosing a strap for your watch, you should pay attention to the locking mechanism that keeps the strap in place. You want a locking mechanism that is secure and reliable, so that your Mi Band does not fall off your wrist or get lost. Many silicon bands have the same original equipment manufacturer (OEM) locking mechanism that is not very sturdy. It can easily come undone if you move your wrist too much or bump into something.

Metal replacement band for Mi Band - Milanese metal strap

Some milanese metal straps have a magnetic clasp that is also not very strong. It can easily come undone if you expose it to another magnet or do vigorous activities. You should look for a locking mechanism that is more durable and stable, such as a pin buckle clasp, a deployant clasp, or a hook and loop fastener.

That’s it for this post. Hope you have enjoyed it. If you have any questions, or suggestions, let us know in the comment section below.
